I'm very fortunate that he loves being pushed in the baby jogger and actually sits during my training runs. On race day, my father or friends help me out by watching him while I race. I push him for the warm-up and cool down and look for him out on the course cheering for me. I thought dragging him to my races might make him despise running when he gets older, but he actually enjoys it and even mimicks the starts. He loves racing me and my husband around the house or track and yells, "Ready, set, go!" I am a lucky mom who has a super wingman by her side!

Mister Independent!

I just thought I'd share a proud mommy moment! I took my two-and-a-half-year-old son Bryce to the playground and he was trying to climb up an inclined tunnel. After the third attempt and me trying to coach him on how to get to the top, I actually started to climb in to show him. He turned around looked at me and said, "Mommy, I need to do this myself!" I was taken back, but proud of him for wanting to do it alone...and he DID! Now let's hope that same independece is just as strong as we tackle potty training!!!

Picking a pre-school/daycare

We took Bryce to his first open house at the Rainbow Academy in Brick on Sunday. We are hoping to enroll him in preschool/daycare by September since he'll be 3 in August! He seemed to really like it for the short time we were there visiting! He even made a friend! My husband and I were impressed with the classrooms, activities and indoor/outdoor playground areas. I also like the fact they have cameras so you can check in on the web anytime and see what's going on. As I type this, I'm already thinking about when the time will come when we start visiting colleges!!! LOL!

Haircut or not???

My son Bryce is two-and-a-half and he has never had a haircut. I'm debating whether I should get his curly locks chopped or just keep letting them grow! I used to be able to brush his hair and it would stay straight for a while, unless it was humid. Now, it doesn't matter if I brush it. You can't even tell. The curls just do their own thing. I want to keep letting it grow...but after seeing his picture with the Easter Bunny I'm wondering if it's time????? Any parents out there keep a lock of their kid's first haircut??? Just wondering...

Need help with your picky eaters?

Need help with your picky eaters?

Crisis averted!

So my husband had the day off and was watching our son Bryce. On my way home from work he told me there was a little problem, but everything was okay. Bryce stuck a plastic container (that holds his animals) over his head and it got stuck! He couldn't get it off. My husband tried to cut it off, but ended up wriggling it off and bruising Bryce's forehead!!! Poor kid! Good thing it didn't fit completely over his head. My husband said he was in panic and thought he was going to have to bring Bryce to the emergency room! He was about to break-out the cooking oil. The crazy thing is, a few days earlier I had taken away a beach bucket of Bryce's because he was putting over his head. I never even imagined he would do it with the other plastic container, which is much smaller.

Children's books about Atlantic Farms in Wall Twp!

Children's books about Atlantic Farms in Wall Twp!

Author John Miller, "Parenting the QBQ Way"

Author John Miller, "Parenting the QBQ Way"

Bryce's 1st parade!

My two-and-a-half year-old son Bryce has been to many parades, but he finally got to be in one! I took him on the Magic 100.1 float at the St. Patrick's Day parade in Seaside Heights. I was a little nervous (worried he might try to jump off!) He actually was very good! He loved being on the top of the float wearing his green and white striped hat and waving to the crowd! Of course giving him a lollipop helped keep him occupied too!

Mommy Guilt!!!

I know all moms probably experience some kind of guilt with their children...but I had to share my worst moment yet. I am a competitive runner, so the time I spend training is my escape, the only thing I do for myself. When the weather is warm enough, I will push my 2 1/2-year-old son Bryce in the baby jogger and I stop at a park along the way, so he can enjoy it too. We recently went over a friend's house who also is a competitive runner. Her husband offered to watch the kids while we went running for one hour in the neighborhood. Bryce was crying when we left and when we returned. He finally calmed down, we went home, ate dinner, etc. Before bed, I told him I loved him. His response back was, "Mommy loves running." (Put the knife in my heart!!!!) I felt so horrible. ...
