It was hysterical watching the kids figure out which way to run and where to score! Some of them would run right past the goal and into the next field. Bryce and one other boy on his team seemed to be in their own world...lol...they had no idea a game was going on! Bryce would run off the field to give me a kiss! Oh and my husband decided to volunteer me to coach, since the real coach will have to miss three of the practices...stay tuned!

I officially become a soccer mom tomorrow!

Okay, so my 3-and-a-half year-old son Bryce begins soccer for the first time tomorrow. I must admit I'm dreading this. I came across these "10 commandments of soccer moms" on Yahoo and figured I'd share them. Wish me luck!!!
1. Thou shalt not spend less than $50 per child on gear before walking on to the soccer field. Even if thou has a preschooler.
2. Thou doth not showest up in old college sweatshirts and Adidas wind pants to soccer games – thou showers, curls the hair, dons make-up and wears cute capris and wedges. If it is rainy, thou may wear Hunter rain boots and a stylish cap.
3. Thou scours the Internet to find her player soccer socks in complimentary colors to the team jersey and name. For the Ladybugs, black and white polka dot socks are procured to go with the red jersey. For the Honeybees, yellow ...

I've become something I swore I never would!

I swore I would never become a soccer mom...EVER! Well that all changed last night when I signed up my three-and-a-half year-old son Bryce for the Brick soccer league's kiddie team. I am already envisioning my Saturday mornings sitting in a beach chair on a field with a million other parents shouting at their kids to, "run this way, that way, kick the ball." I'm not sure this is a good idea...jokingly. I will have to tame the competitive athlete in myself to keep my mouth shut. I may even have to put duct tape over it and tie my hands down so I don't become "ONE OF THOSE PARENTS!" I am secretly hoping he doesn't like it so I will selfishly have my Saturday's back! Ha..ha! Are you a soccer mom??? Do you love it or regret it???? Be honest!!!

How to Entertain Your Kids During the Big Game!

For many football fans, hosting a Super Bowl Sunday party is an annual tradition, complete with friends, family and a smorgasbord of food and drinks. But, while the adults are perfectly satisfied with chomping on chicken wings and opining on those multimillion-dollar, 30-second commercial spots, children can quickly become fidgety and bored as the game’s six-hour television coverage rolls on. The solution? Plan a variety of active games that even the youngest fans at the party can enjoy.
Hot Potato (aka “Hot Football”)
The classic game Hot Potato—or, in this case, Hot Football—is the perfect game for children of all ages to enjoy at a Super Bowl party, says Scott Danberg, director of fitness at Pritikin Longevity Center & ...

My son is calling me by my first name!

My 3-year-old son Bryce made my jaw drop the other night. He was sitting on the couch watching TV and yelled to me, "Dianne, get me a drink!" I said, "WHAAAAAATTTT??? I was floored! Besides calling me by my first name instead of mommy, he demanded I get him a drink??? My husband and I burst out laughing, but it was mortifying when I picked him up from pre-school and he greeted me by saying "Hi Dianne!" The look on the teachers' faces was priceless! He does call my husband Kevin too. We correct him and he knows we are mommy and daddy, but he still calls us by our first names--at times. I can only imagine what he'll be calling us when he becomes a teen!

Relief!!!

So after a rough start at Pre-school, Bryce has done a 180! When I picked him up after his third day he laid on the floor kicking and crying because he wanted to STAY! Yes, I said he wanted to stay at school! I actually had to drag him out of the building! He still cries when my husband drops him off in the morning, but once he's there, he's fine. I was really worried after the first day and wondered whether I had made the right decision to send him. I'm sleeping better at night, knowing he is ready!

Besides learning how to go on the potty like a big boy, he's officially a pre-schooler....deep breath. While on vacation last week, I decided to let him go one day to ease the transition. The poor kid cried on and off for the entire 3 hours he was there. When I walked in to pick him up, he was sitting on the floor alone, clutching his favorite tiger stuffed animal and crying for me. All of the other kids were eating lunch at their tables. He told me he wanted to be a baby again so he didn't have to go back. UGH...stick the knife in deeper! Today, my husband had the honor of dropping him off at school. I called to check on him after one and a half hours and they said he was crying a ...

Potty training SUCCESS!!!

Well after seeing the story about the potty training pants with alarms...I decided to step up as a parent and try again my way to get Bryce to go!! I was determined, so over the weekend I broke out the Batman underpants again and told him if he peed and pooped in them, I would have to throw them away. (Cruel, I know...but it worked!!!) All day Saturday and Sunday, he told me when he had to go and sat on the potty by himself! I put the potty in the living room, so he could just go over to it and do it by himself, and that made such a huge difference. He even pooped on it! I was amazed! Every time he goes, I cheer and give him a high five, then I let him choose a reward: a quarter, a few m&m's or a cookie. So far ...

Potty training pants with ALARMS!!!

The potty training process has been very frustrating! I am actually considering trying these new diapers that come equipped with an alarm! YES, an ALARM that notifies you when your kid is peeing by playing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star!" Apparently two dads who have potty trained nine kids have invented these! I think it may be worth a shot!!! Check them our for yourself at potty-patrol.com.
I am not a quitter though, so before I actually buy these, I am going to provide a few more options for my three-year-old son Bryce before I resort to the alarm diapers! He has character underwear, but I will try using his new Batman underpants and some fun targets for inspiration!!!

I can't believe the little being that started out looking like a grain of rice in my belly is now becoming a little man! Three years already over in a flash. Bryce was pulled from my belly looking like the little old man in "Benjamin Button" and now in just three short years he has grown into a handsome, inquisitive boy who gets a kick out of testing my patience, then charming me with his devlish grin. I never imagined how much joy and love he would bring me everyday. Nothing melts my heart more than hearing him say "Mommy, I love you to the moon!" Happy 3rd Birthday Bryce!
