Join Magic 100.1 at the 23rd annual New Jersey State Chili and Salsa Cook-off, presented by Downtown Toms River, rain or shine, Saturday, May 19th from 11am to 5pm on Washington Street, Downtown Toms River. Sanctioned by the International Chili Society, the competition is open to cooks from across the country. Competition includes, ICS Red Chili, Chili Verde and Salsa, as well as People's Choice Red Chili and Salsa. Enjoy a full day festival that offers something for chili lovers of all ages, with live music from Boccigalupe & the Bad Boys, inflatable rides, vendors and crafters, and of course, the opportunity to taste the numerous chili and salsa entries. Tasting kits are only $6 in advance; $7 day of. Advance vouchers for tasting kits can be purchased by going to downtowntomsriver.com or by calling 732-341-8738.

Want to make a difference? Walk in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. Join Magic 100.1 at the Manahawkin Relay For Life, starting Friday, June 1st at 6pm at Southern Regional High School, 90 Cedar Bridge Road in Manahawkin. For more information, visit www.relayforlife.org/manahawkinnj.
Relay For Life is an overnight relay-style event where teams of people camp out around a track or path. Members of each team take turns walking around the track for the duration of the event. Food, games and activities provide entertainment and fundraising opportunities. Relay For Life is a family-friendly environment for the entire community. Because it’s a Relay, you’re not required to be there the entire time… but it’s so fun, you’ll probably find it hard to leave.
Relay starts with a Survivors Lap – an inspirational time when survivors are invited to circle the track together and help everyone celebrate the victories we’ve achieved over cancer.
After dark, we honor people who have been touched by cancer and remember loved ones lost to the disease during the Luminaria Ceremony. Candles are lit inside bags filled with sand, each one bearing the name of a person touched by cancer, and participants often walk a lap in silence.
Last, there is a Fight Back Ceremony, where we make a personal commitment to save lives by taking up the fight against cancer. That personal commitment may be to do something as simple as getting a screening test, quitting smoking, or talking to elected officials about cancer. By taking action, people are personally taking steps to save lives and fight back against a disease that takes too much.
Join Magic 100.1 as the Lakewood BlueClaws host the Jersey Shore Wine Festival, Saturday & Sunday, June 2nd and 3rd from noon to 5pm at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood. The centerpiece of the festival will be wine tasting by eleven New Jersey wineries from around the state. The event will also feature live musical entertainment, food, crafters, the BlueClaws play area for children... and of course, lots of games and prizes from Magic 100.1.
